Alexandra Masters: For the Wall
Exhibition Dates: November 18, 2020 – November 24, 2020
Virtual Exhibition
Unfortunately, Stormwater Studios is closed to the public due to Covid-19 precautions, but the For the Wall exhibit will live, indefinitely, on the SVAD website for viewing.
For the Wall is a complete collection of Alexandra’s painted portfolio works to this date. She is an undergraduate student at USC studying Art History, Environmental Studies, and Business Administration. She plans to attend graduate school for Architecture in the Fall of 2021 and include these works in her portfolio for admissions. She also does landscape and architectural photography as well as architectural and portrait graphite sketching.
Comprised of only 2 pieces (one of which is unfinished) from Alexandra’s undergraduate studies in Painting, For the Wall is a collection that is meant to be displayed – hung on the wall - in a creative space, whether that be a bedroom, an office, or an atelier. The rest of Alexandra’s works were done on her own time.
One of the works completed as a part of Alexandra’s undergraduate studies is a copy of Sir Peter Paul Rubens’ St. Peter of 1616 and the other is a copy of Titian’s Venus Anadyomene of 1520. St. Peter was done with the Flemish technique and the Venus Anadyomene was done with white underpainting. The doggo painting is of Alexandra’s family dog, Ginger, who passed away last spring. This oil painting of Ginger was given to Alexandra’s mother as a Mother’s Day gift. The green and neutral colored oil diptych was done for a poem that was read on “By The River’s Poet’s Corner”. The black and white oil painting is of actor Sam Claflin. It is a copy of one of his Instagram selfies and represents modern portraiture. The two flowers, a tulip and a rose, are contours or a single line. Lastly, the watercolor bust is based off of a photo from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy that Alexandra took while she was studying abroad in Turin, Italy.
