Empathetic Translation

An M.F.A. Exhibition by Aldric Morton

Technology is a double-edged sword in today’s world. It gives us access to more information than before. However, it has also damaged our ability to communicate with each other. Words, phrases, emotions, intentions and motivations are misinterpreted because we read things through the eyes of social media without gaining facts from the source.  We have been trained to look at the surface of our surroundings, and social media is a simple process of scrolling through images and bits of information quickly.  My work is a constant attempt to inspire people to retrain themselves to investigate the information they take in, to gain deeper understanding.  True understanding is a process of gaining enough knowledge to properly interact with the subject of interest. Breaking down those walls and building bridges to true understanding is my goal.
