The Design of the First-Year Reading Experience
August 26 - September 30, 2021
In 1993, The University of South Carolina initiated the First-Year Reading Experience as a way of creating a common academic experience for the incoming freshmen class. The University of South Carolina sought a unique way to promote this experience. Since 1994, a promotional poster has been created by a graphic design student every year through a unique competition within the design program. Additionally, since 2013, the students began to also design a new book cover published especially for the University of South Carolina incoming freshman. This exhibit showcases the history of the posters and book covers designed for the First-Year Reading Experience by the graphic design students over the past twenty-seven years.
